Principal Instrument 1

The learning objectives are achieved by instruction on the principal instrument, where instrumental or vocal skills are developed. Individual instruction is given on the principal instrument.

Knowledge:
An examinee with a completed qualification in MUSV1020 has basic vocal/instrumental proficiency and is broadly oriented within his or her main musical area/genre. The examinee has basic practical and theoretical insight in appropriate techniques for listening, exercise and performance alone and in ensembles.

Skills:
An examinee with a completed qualification in MUSV1020
- can rehearse and present a vocal/instrumental repertoire from a broad field within his or her main musical area/genre
- can show musicality, technical skills, knowledge of styles and insight into music theory

Individual instruction with satisfactory participation in compulsory instruction. To be able to take the final exam the student must attend a minimum of 80% of the lectures.

More on the assessment: The course concludes with a practical examination on the principal instrument. The duration of the practical examination is approximately 10 minutes. If the student fail to attend principal instrument lectures after the department's appointment of a principal instrument teacher, the student will lose the right to take the final examination.
