Music and Society

The course examines questions related to the role and function of music and the musician in society.

The student is to develop reflection and awareness of how music relates to and is beeing used to different aspects of contemporary society.

The student:
- has insight into the music and the musician's role and function in society.
- reflect critically and independently about how music is used in different contexts in society.
- can orientate and update on music sociological issues.

Lectures, seminars and individual guidance in writing the paper, which should contain of 5-10 A4 pages.
