Composition B

The focus is concentrated on Bach-style counterpoints. Other harmonisation principles may be included.

Knowledge:

The candidate:

• has knowledge about 1400 century vocal polyphony based on the style of J. S. Bach.

Skills:

The candidate:

• has experience in arranging and composing ecclesiastical every day music
• can write down exercises and simple motets in two-, three- and four-part counterpoint in Bach-style
• can draw lines from the basic composition techniques in the Bach-style into her/his own compositions.

Group instruction - 1 hour pr. week. Some of the teaching is coordinated with MUSP4537 Counterpoint.

Weekly compulsory exercises/assignments.

Instruction is obligatory and demands minimum 80% attendance.
