Principal Instrument Jazz D

The course demands significant independent study. Individual instruction is comprised of instrumental skills with a focus on improvisation. The ensemble instruction is comprised of repertoire development, improvisation practice, ensemble management and rehearsal techniques. Students will receive relevant studio practice during the course.

The main objective of the course is to develop the student's ability to perform and mediate music at a high level, both as a solo performer and in various ensembles.

Individual instruction - 1 hour pr. week for 27 weeks.
Group instruction - tot. 25 hours of ensemble projects, concentrated over shorter periods throughout the academic year.
Projects - various instruction.
Compulsory activity: Satisfactory participation in the compulsory instruction, and submittal of a principal instrument report.
