Composition Jazz A

The course is based on the individual student's music-generating aptitudes through aural-based composition and collective ensemble processes. The compositions are developed through analysis and use of compositional tools. Notation of music is introduced through a course in notation software.

• knows how music software can be used as a tool in arranging/composing.

Skills:

The candidate:

• has basic skills in arranging, composing and notation
• can use music software to arrange/compose music.

Lectures in style and musical analysis. Performances of the student's own production form the basis for individual tutoring. Instruction: Equivalent to 1 hour per week for 24 weeks. Tutoring: Equivalent to 0.5 hours per week for 24 weeks.
