About this course

Content

The course is given every second year, next time will be 2009/2010.
Phenomenlogical laws. Equations for flux density. Derivation of the conservation equations and their solutions for selected systems. Convective transport in laminar and turbulent flow. Boundary-layer theory. Transport in multicomponent systems. Concentrated solution theory of mass transfer. Coupled processes. Transport across phase boundaries. Effect of homogeneous and heterogeneous reaction kinetics. Passage of charge and current distribution in electrochemical systems. Mathematical methods will be introduced as they are needed in solving specific problems.

Learning outcomes

The course gives a unified treatment of momentum, energy and mass transfer in chemical and electrochemical systems.
