About this course

Content

Characterization of slender marine structures. Effect from buoyancy, internal and external pressure, internal flow. Models for hydrodynanmic loads. Modelling of non-linear loads in dynamic analysis. Vortex induced vibrations. Static and dynamic analysis by use of the finite element method. Stochastic analysis. Design and analysis of risers and tension legs. Heave compensation of risers. Riser optimization.

Learning outcomes

Learn to understand static and dynamic behaviour of slender marine structures and hence be able to carry out needed analyses for design and verification of this type of structures.

Teaching methods

Lectures and exercises. Compulsory projects.
