Current Views in Multi-scale Fracture and Plasticity

The course will cover most recent theoretical and experimental aspects of the fracture mechanics and its interaction with the plasticity in engineering metals such as advanced high strength steels, stainless steels, superalloys, titanium alloys, advanced light alloys including aluminium and magnesium alloys, etc. The students select topics and make presentations and write state-of-the-art reports using recent scientific literature. The report will form the basis for an oral examination.

Advanced knowledge and understanding of fracture and its interaction with plasticity in metals.

The teaching will be a combination of lectures, colloquiums, and self-studies. The curriculum can be adjusted to the individual students depending on wish and need. If there are less than 4 registered students, the course coordinator will decide whether the course will take place.
