About this course

Content

The course will not be given 2007-2008. The course aims to provide the basic insight into polymeric nanocomposites. The course will cover the following topics: Nanoreinforcement materials, chemical treatment and exfoliation of different nanofibers and particles, manufacturing techniques, mechanical properties, characterization and future products of nanocomposite materials in the fields of packaging and medicine.

Learning outcomes

The students should attain understanding for processing of nanocomposite materials containing clay and cellulose, how these materials are analyzed and what mechanical properties can be achieved with incorporating nanoreinforcements into polymeric materials. The students should also understand how different manufacturing techniques will affect the nanostructure and characteristics of these composite materials.
