About this course
Content
MM8101 is the introduction PhD course tailored to Robotics and Engineering Design students (R&ED) at MTP. It is primarily intended as a group internal PhD course, but it is open to students with a related PhD topic. If you are interested, please contact the lecturer for availability and fit.
This course focuses on the fundamentals of Engineering Design PhD projects and a research methodology and strategy adapted to the individual PhD. We will also go through the fundamentals of scientific argument, and present and discuss concrete tools and methods. We also discuss publication strategies and job development strategies. Additionally, specific elements can be taught by the various teachers based on the actual individual research project.

Teaching methods
The course is based on a weekly 2h seminar meeting. Students will have to prepare topics and presentations and will have a high reading load of fundamental material. The course is finalized by elaborating an individual portfolio on ones PhD topic.
To pass the course, a score of at least 70 percent is required.
The course may not be held if there are less than 5 participants. Interested PhD candidates are requested to get in touch with the course coordinator via e-mail.
