Practical/artistic specialization

Academic content

The subject lasts three semesters, with a final exam in the fall of the fifth year. Compulsory work requirements will be given during the fourth year (the first, and/or the second semester of the course). The student will sign up for the final exam during the fall semester the fifth year.

In the subject, teaching and guidance are offered in the specializations that are covered at any time by the teaching college at ILU - NTNU. For example, in recent years we have been able to offer guidance in subjects such as singing, dancing, ukulele, piano, guitar, laptop, bass guitar, DJing, violin, accordion, drums and transverse flute. The form and content of the teaching will largely be determined in consultation between student and supervisor, based on what is appropriate within the chosen specialization.

Knowledge

Upon completion of the course, the student is expected to:

- have knowledge of communication both musically, scenically, physically and verbally for different audience groups and in different arenas

- have specialized knowledge of performing, creating, analyzing and communicating music and/or dance from a selection of genres

- have in-depth knowledge that enables further independent development in the chosen specialization

Skills

Upon completion of the course, the student is expected to:

- have a varied, persuasive, independent and engaging approach to their immersion in teaching, dissemination and own artistic development work

- able to reflect independently and critically on various technical and artistic issues when it comes to self-practice, rehearsing, presentation and communication within the chosen specialization

General competence

Upon completion of the course, the student is expected to:

- be able to take responsibility for own artistic creative development and relate this to own professional practice

- have a versatile basis for teaching and communicating music and/or dance in different arenas and for different target groups

Learning forms and activities may include, but are not excluded from: One-to-one teaching, group teaching, practice alone and in groups, performances, conversations, workshops and seminars.
