Advanced didactics in PE teaching

The course addresses key topics related to didactics in physical education, with regard to different groups of students such as beginners and students with different learning needs. Furthermore, the course focuses on applying practical skills that have been developed throughout the physical education subject. The aim of the course is to promote understanding of and critical reflection of the learning of beginning students and different learners through practical opportunities. Key topics will be early childhood education, differentiated instruction and assessment of both pupils' learning and reflective teaching practices.

• has in-depth knowledge of progression in teaching, and how the teaching can be adapted to different pupils' prerequisites and needs

• can apply the principle of the learning-oriented assessment of the physical education subject at an advanced level and thus contribute to the pupils learning to reflect on their own learning and development
• can analyze academic issues based on knowledge of the physical education subject's distinctive character, values and history and use such insight into teaching, research and development work
• can plan and carry out teaching in the physical education subject that promotes the pupil's scientific way of thinking

General competence

• can systematically plan, evaluate and revise learning programs with the physical education subject as a basis

The course may use a variety of learning modalities such as seminars, lectures, group work, individual work, and practical activities both on-campus and off-campus to achieve the learning objectives of the course. The course requires a great deal of independent and group work (with fellow students, instructors, and/or external partners) to be successful.
