Master Thesis in Norwegian L1 Education

This topic is covered by the master's thesis and an individual curriculum relevant to the assignment. Under supervision, the student designs and conducts a research project, which is documented through a written assignment, the master's thesis. The topic of the thesis is chosen by the student in consultation with the supervisor and will therefore vary from student to student.

Knowledge

The student

• has advanced, specialized knowledge within a spesific area in Norwegian didactics
• has in-depth knowledge of key challenges based on the subject area's research, history, traditions, uniqueness and place in society
• has in-depth knowledge of the design of a subject relevant research project
• has in-depth knowledge of what is required of scientific texts in Norwegian didactics
• has knowledge of scientific reference standards

Skills

The student

• can, under supervision, design and carry out a research project in line with current research ethics norms
• can assess and discuss relevant Norwegian didactic research in an independent manner
• can familiarize himself/herself with theory and research literature that is relevant to conducting research within a limited area in Norwegian didactics
• can analyze and interpret data in light of theory
• can relate critically to different sources of knowledge
• can refer to sources of information according to recognized standards

General competence

The student

• can apply professional knowledge to design research projects that respond to relevant Norwegian didactic issues
• can convey independent research work using the professional language of Norwegian didactics
• can communicate issues, empirical analyzes and conclusions within the field of Norwegian didactics to subject specialists and teachers
• can use experience from own research to take a leading role in the development of Norwegian in school
