About this course

Content

The course will enable students to apply knowledge to develop the subject and the teaching profession of physical education. This involves acquiring theory and reflecting on experiences that are relevant in the subject and the profession. The students must be able to familiarize themselves with current didactic issues, as well as be able to discuss and formulate possible solutions to these. The students must also summarize the knowledge and see it in the light of current governing documents that relate to the physical education subject. The course provides a practical approach to different ways of acquiring knowledge, with a special focus on observation in the physical education subject.

Knowledge

The student:

  • has advanced knowledge of ethical aspects of the profession and the subject of physical education.
  • has in-depth knowledge of ways of acquiring knowledge, as a basis for change in the profession and the subject of physical education.
  • has in-depth knowledge of how observation can be used to promote didactic issues.

Skills

The student:

  • can critically apply research-based professionally oriented knowledge in Physical education to explore new problem areas.
  • can analyze and relate critically to national and international research and apply this knowledge in professional practice.

General competence

The student:

  • can analyze and assess relevant professional and ethical issues and contribute to the development of professional community at the individual school.
  • can contribute to development work that promotes academic and pedagogical innovation in schools.

Seminars, workshops, work in groups, individual work, lectures, exercises in observation, practical activity in different learning environments.
