Physical Education as a Field of Research

The course aims to provide students with the ability to discuss, analyze, and apply research literature and theories relevant to physical education. Students will gain insight into the research status within relevant subjects areas. The course addresses various perspectives on the body and movement, including topics related to bodily learning and health. Furthermore, the course covers educational themes and issues related to teaching methods, digital tools, professional culture, ethics and relevant governing documents.

Knowledge

The candidate:

- has advanced knowledge of relevant research and theory in physical education as a research field

- has in-depth knowledge of how digital technology can be used as a pedagogical tool in physical education.

Skills

The candidate:

- can assess digital expressions and resources critically and use them in education in ways that strengthen and develop the didactics of physical education.

- can analyze and critically relate to national and international research and apply this knowledge in professional practice.

- can analyze professional issues based on knowledge of the unique characteristics, values, and history of the physical education subject and use such insights in teaching, research, and development work

General competence

The candidate:

- can at an advanced level debate and communicate about professional issues related to professional practice and has professional digital competence

- can systematically plan, evaluate, and revise teaching and learning programs based on the subject of physical education.

The teaching methods will vary between lectures, supervision, seminars, self-study and practicals.
