Introduction to Social Studies Education Part 1 (5-10)

Social studies 1 part 1 provides an introduction to social studies as areas of knowledge and as a school subject with relevance for teaching at grade 5-10. Introduction to the school subject includes the purpose of the school subject, value mandate and curriculum.

Within the field of culture, community and identity, emphasis is placed on basic sociological concepts, themes and understandings, with the main focus on social inequality.

There will be a basic introduction to geographical themes and understandings based on the perspective 'Norway in a global world' with a particular focus on core socio-geographic concepts, landscape, demography, development and globalisation.

In the subject, some basic lines in world history and Sami history are drawn up.

The subject and subject didactics are taught as an integrated part of the course to strengthen professional understanding.
