Medical Technology

The course will present important research projects in medical technology at NTNU/SINTEF/St.Olavs Hospital, with focus both on achieved results and on new problems to be solved. The course also covers ethical guidelines in research, protection of medical privacy, patient rights and other social aspects in research within medical technology. The student will present and discuss his/her research project, hereby having to deal with the interdisciplinary nature of medical technology. The student will also create a web site presenting the project as a part of the priority area of medical technology, consider possible ethical and social challenges in the project and look for potential cooperation with other research groups.

Course objectives:
The aim of the course is to provide the student with a broad understanding of the medical technology as a discipline. This will give the student a foundation of how to use his/her profession within medical technology.

Presentation of project written by the students. Discussions in groups. Web publication of the project. Essay.
