Organization and frameworks in mileu therapy

The subject presents an overview of various therapeutic ideologies and theories, such as psychodynamic, behavioral analytic, trauma-informed, and mentalization-based therapy.

The subject discusses the importance of interaction between users, services, and professionals. Furthermore, it highlights the significance of framework conditions, such as physical, social, legal, political, and organizational factors that impact therapeutic work.

Additionally, the subject emphasizes how self-determination and user rights can be safeguarded in therapy. Ethical dilemmas in therapeutic work are raised and discussed.

Knowledge

After completing and passing the course MDV6421, the student will:

• Have advanced knowledge of key theories in therapeutic work.
• Have in-depth knowledge of how the organization impacts therapeutic work.
• Have advanced knowledge of how external framework conditions affect therapeutic work.

Skills

After completing and passing the course MDV6421, the student will be able to:

• Analyze and critically relate to therapeutic practice in light of current theories, internal framework conditions (such as management), and external framework conditions (such as legal regulations).
• Analyze and work independently with ethical issues related to therapeutic work.
• Analyze how organizational structures can facilitate user rights and self-determination in therapeutic work.

General Competence

After completing and passing the course MDV6421, the student will be able to:

• Communicate key therapeutic perspectives, principles, and theories.
• Apply knowledge and skills to communicate and analyze the significance of various framework conditions in therapeutic work.

The teaching consists of lectures, group work, discussions, seminars, and individual work. The instruction is primarily given in Norwegian. Research articles and other literature in a Nordic language or English will be used.

Participation in seminars is a mandatory activity. Participation here involves both individual and/or group preparations, as well as attendance and active participation on the seminar day.

The teaching is provided in sessions throughout the semester.
