Final semester

The teaching aims to train holistic thinking and an interdisciplinary approach to complex patient problems. This includes not only clinical, but also laboratory medical and basic aspects, besides behavioural sciences and environmental medicine. Ethical issues are discussed, and students are challenged to process their own attitudes to medical and paramedical issues. The teaching is patient-oriented and problem-focused, and mainly consists of seminars and overview lectures. Most of the teaching will be given in the first half of the semester, while it will then be reduced so that the students have more time for their own reading and study groups in preparation for the final exam.

After completing semester 3D, the students will have acquired the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to enter internships/beginner positions in hospitals and in the primary healthcare service. They should also have acquired insight into scientific thinking and methods in order to critically evaluate medical information and participate in medical research.

The course is mainly taught in Norwegian, but some classes may be taught in English.
