Medicine semester 2D - for foreign students

Semester 2D for foreign students (MD4041) is identical with semester 2D for Norwegian medical students (MD4043) with English as the teaching language.

The teaching includes the following topics: obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, endocrinology, nephrology, urology, radiology/imaging, global health, infectious diseases and microbiology, pharmacology and pathology.

The teaching is organised in thematic weeks. Lectures, clinics, seminars and courses are given on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays. Clinical teaching and PBL (Problem-based Learning) are given Wednesdays and Thursdays. In addition to the respective clinical departments, other departments and institutes are also integrated in the teaching. All students (except foreign students) will, during autumn in the 4th year, chose their theme for their main thesis, get a supervisor and submit a protocol before 31 January in the next semester. Teaching methods are problem-based learning (PBL), lectures, clinics, seminars, demonstrations, courses, clinical teaching on rotation in the university hospital and skills laboratories. PBL and clinical teaching (uketjeneste) is mandatory with an accepted maximum of 15 % absence.
