About this course

Content

The aim of the course is to develop knowledge of and practical experience with spatial audio production technologies, including binaural and multichannel rendering of both channel-based and object-based audio. Topics include virtual acoustics, auralization and spatial audio perception.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge: After completing the course the candidate:

  • will have theoretical knowledge of acoustics and perception for spatial audio
  • will know how to evaluate spatial audio productions

Skills: After completing the course the candidate:

  • can render channel-based and object-based audio for both binaural systems and loudspeaker arrays.
  • can design aesthetically well-formed spatial audio experiences
  • can use appropriate software tools to implement spatial audio features and effects

Teaching methods

This course will be based on a flipped classroom model with:

  • a set of video lectures, reading assignments and online qualification tests
  • an eight-day intensive workshop with compulsory attendance
