Bachelor's Project in Mathematical Studies

The student will learn to present a mathematical text both in oral and written form. Thus the course contains different components. The technical component: The dominating software used to produce mathematical text is the type setting system LaTeX. One part of the course is an introduction to using LaTeX to write a mathematical text. The scientific content: The purpose is to complete an independent project work under supervision. A topic for the project in mathematics or statistics is to be chosen with an adviser, and the result will be a mathematical text describing what has been done in the project. The pedagogical content: The student will learn to present a mathematical topic, both oral and written, through discussion and supervision with other students and the supervisior.

The student is able to present a mathematical topic both oral and written in a precise form.

Independent project work (bachelor's thesis), under supervision. Discussions with the supervisor. The project report is evaluated to pass/not pass. The obligatory assignment "oral public presentation of the project/thesis" is also evaluated to pass/not pass. An oral feedback on the presentation of the bachelor Project will be given. The time and place for the presentation is agreed upon by the student, the supervisor and the examiner. Both the project and the oral presentation must be passed to pass the course. The thesis should reflect on its relevance with respect to the sustainable development goals by UN.
