Master Thesis, Logopaedics

The master's thesis is an independent scientific work that is carried out under supervision. By choosing a topic, the student will delve into theoretical and/or treatment-related issues that are relevant to the field of speech therapy. The master's thesis can be an empirical work, where a separate empirical data material (quantitative or qualitative) is obtained; an evaluation project, a theoretical assignment with discussion of one or more theories; a literature review related to a specific issue or problem field; or an innovation project/development work. The student will learn scientific work methods and scientific methods of presentation. The master's thesis must demonstrate that the student can give a nuanced, clear and precise representation of a topic area, and that he or she can communicate the research to a wider audience including professionals.

After passing the exam, the student must have obtained the following learning outcomes:

Knowledge and understanding:

The student must have gained in-depth insight into a subject area in speech therapy. This includes theoretical and practical understanding of the subject area in question and knowledge of previous research in the area in question

Skills:

The student must be able to

- select, analyze and reflect on specialist literature and use it to formulate and structure professional reasoning

- use speech therapy professional knowledge and understanding through own research work in accordance with research ethical norms so that the issue, theory, method and discussions are connected as a whole

- design a text in accordance with formal requirements for scientific text production

General competence:

- knowledge of scientific thinking and work and academic presentation

The work on the master's thesis takes place under supervision individually and in groups. You must take responsibility for the progress of your work yourself, and make arrangements for guidance meetings with your supervisor at reasonable times.
