Internship

Internship at a relevant institution which gives knowledge of organisation and work practises within a part of the cultural heritage field, and experience in working with cultural heritage on an institutional level.

A candidate who passes this course is expected to have the following learning outcome according to the course curriculum, defined as knowledge and skills:

Knowledge:

The candidate:

• Has first hand knowledge of the organisation and work methods within the field of cultural heritage management which the internship comprises.

Skills:

The candidate:

• Has been trained in cultural heritage work on an institutional level.
• Has some experience in applying theory on issues related to practical heritage work.
• Has experience in observing and reflecting on collaboration in the specific field of practice.
• Has by writing the report been trained in formulating research oriented questions.

An internship of two months. During the internship the candidate writes a log where tasks/activities, observations and reflections are noted. To finish the internship the student has to deliver a report, which also includes a project description for the master thesis. Experiences from the internship are discussed at the first meeting with supervisor and fellow students the following semester. The report is evaluated pass/not passed. A candidate who has several years of documented relevant work experience can have this practice approved within this course by handing in a report as described above.
