From Romanticism to Post Modernism

The course covers Norwegian and European visual art and architecture from approx. AD 1800 to the present, including theoretical and methodical approaches related to the period.

The course provides an introduction to European architecture and visual art from the Romantic period to the present - set in a historical frame of reference. In addition, students will gain understanding of relevant academic history, methods and theory.

Lectures, analysis and writing seminars by teaching assistants with supervised written assignments.

Required work: One written assignment of about 2000-2500 words must be approved before the student is elligible for final assessment.

More on assessment: The final assessment is based on a one-week take-home examination of about 5000-7500 words, assessed by a letter grade.

Students are required to check the results of their assignments on the department's bulletin boards.
