About this course

Content

The finite element method for nonlinear analyses of conrete. Stress analyses, analyses of young hardening concrete, diffusion. Mathematical models for description of the behaviour of concrete. Cracking criteria, failure criteria, reinforcement modelling, time and temperature dependent properties.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge: - The finite element method for non-linear analyses of concrete - Material models for describing crack and failure in concrete - Modeling of time- and temperature dependent properties - Modeling of bonded and unbonded reinforcement Skills: - Can choose a reasonable material model and material properties depending on the problem - Evaluate results from a non-linear analysis of concrete - Able to define the important non-linear effects in an analysis General competence: - Assumptions and limitations in non-linear analyses - Able to transform a practical problem of a concrete structure, to a non-linear analysis

Teaching methods

Seminars and self-study. Exercises and compulsory project work. To pass the course a score of at least 70 percent is required.
