About this course

Content

The course is given every second year, next time spring 2009
It is described how colloidal structures, such as micelles, liquid crystalline phases and inverted micelles can be used in preparation of functional materials. Synthesis and characterisation methods for micro- and mesoporous materials will be emphasised. The most important characterisation methods will be gas adsorption, X-ray and electron spectroscopy techniques, solid state NMR and ESR spectroscopy. Examples of applications of the materials will be given, with special emphasis on hetereogeneous catalysis and adsorption.

Learning outcomes

Introduction to preparation methods and properties of functional materials with main applications within catalysis and adsorption.
