Quality of Life

In several countries, there is a demand from clinical research groups to always concider measurements of quality of life in new clinical trials. Measurements of quality of life and subjective symptoms are particularly important in studies of palliative care. The results of such measurements are gaining interest as a secondary endpoint in studies where the aim is to decrease morbidity or mortality in severe chronical illnesses.
The course will cover several aspects of these measurements in randomized studies and clinical trials; choice of questionnaire, methods, study design, problem solving, analysis and comprehension of the data, report of results and conclusions.

The course will give a thorough introduction to the subject. The course will focus on data analysis and the use and comprehension of published results. Some of the most important questionnaires will be presented.
The aim of the course is to teach the student a basis of knowledge needed to plan and implement clinical trials.

Lectures and study groups. The course is taught intensively.
