Applied Geochemistry

The course begins with a consideration of methodology dealing with, among other things, sampling of soil and other environmental matrices, sample density, sample treatment, chemical analysis, statistical treatment and production of maps.The main part includes use and interpretation of geochemical data in exploration, environmental studies, geomedicine, agriculture and land use planning.

At the end of the course the student should:
- Be able to plan and complete a geochemical survey
- Understand which sample types that can be used for different types of geochemical surveys
- Quality control in geochemical surveys
- Understand how geochemical data can be utilized

Lectures/excercises (4 hours per week). The exercises may include an intensive course (in the beginning of the semester) and excursions. The teaching language is Norwegian. Oral exam (30 minutes).
