About this course
Content
The course consists of the following topics: classical thermodynamics, spontaneity and equilibrium in chemical-physical systems, phase equilibria, systems with variable composition (mixtures), ideal and real mixtures, colligative properties, thermodynamics of electro-chemical cells, kinetics, phenomenological equations and descriptions of chemical reactions.
Learning outcomes
The students should know the basic theory of chemical thermodynamics for applications in reaction equilibria, phase equilibria, chemical mixtures and electrochemical cells. Also chemical kinetics is included as part of this course.
Teaching methods
Lectures (4 hours per week), computation exercises (2 hours per week), and laboratory work (ca. 5 hours per week). The laboratory course consists of a total of 50 hours. Final examination, 5 hours (100%).
