User-centred interaction design

The course is project-based and consists of a user-interface design project done in groups. The project focuses on practical use of field observations and iterative design/redesign with prototyping and usability testing. Relevant theory for the different phases of the user-centered design process will be presented. Be capable of balancing conflicting design requirements, e.g. in relation to sustainability.

Knowledge: The course gives knowledge of basic theory and current research related to user-centered design, interaction design and human-computer interaction.

Skills: It also gives practical experience with state-of-the-art methods for the user-centered design of graphical user interfaces (GUIs).

General competence: The project gives students experience working with design challenges in teams.

Lectures and project work in teams.

The course cannot be taken as distance learning. The project work is group-based, and successful completion requires all group members to meet physically on campus.

During the semester, the teams present their progress in "critique sessions" at regular intervals - with feedback from the lecturer.
