Learning outcomes
After passed exam the student has knowledge within the academic field of design automation and product architectures. Has thorough knowledge of the scholarly theories and methods for automated creation of products and and modularization. The students should be able to apply knowledge to new areas and analyze academic problems in the basis of history, tradition and industrial situation.
The students should be able to analyze and deal critically with various sources of information and use them to structure and formulate scholarly arguments within the field of design automation, product platforms and modularization. They should be able to use relevant methods to define product families with respect to product platforms, modules as well as product architectures
The student can apply his/her knowledge and skills in new areas in order to carry out advanced assignments and projects. They can communicate extensive independent work and terminology of the academic field of design automation, product platforms, modularization and product architecture.
Teaching methods
The course is given during two weeks, and it is organized with lectures on background topics and an introduction to a case study. The case study will then be solved individually or in groups and documented in a project report. The total workload for the course is expected to be 2 weeks including independent research and literature survey supporting the project work. Grading will be based on the project report, and will assess the candidate(s) ability to interpret, familiarize, reflect and apply the course topics.
