  • Design for function, reliability, production, cost, etc.
  • Mechanisms and mechanical systems design and analysis
  • Digital configuration and architecture
  • Digital system modelling, simulation and analysis
  • Risk evaluation and analyses.

Learning outcomes

  • Strategic and operative thinking in digital manufacturing
  • In depth understanding and skills in planning, design and testing of advanced robot cells •
  • To be able to initiate, plan and execute, document and present manufacturing process projects.
  • Multi discipline approach
  • Able to integrate technologies as hydraulics, mechanics, mechanisms, robots, programming, electronics and controls.
  • Use of computer aided design systems.
  • Use of cyber physical systems for manufacturing and design

Teaching methods

The course is given during the whole semester, and it is organised with lectures on background topics and an introduction to industrial case studies. It is expected from the students attendance to the lectures, delivery of exercises and mandatory project work.
