About this course

Content

The course consists of four main themes with sub-points:

1. Ethics and technology

  • Technology and science history
  • Scientific method, science theory
  • Ethics (including professional ethics)
  • General HSE History of science, the role of the engineer in society

2. Engineering role -Interaction technology and society

  • Corporate Responsibility -Sustainability
  • Lifecycle analysis
  • Teamwork / Group Processes

3. Basic programming, optional programming language

  • Use of common digital tools in their professional direction

4. Project work

  • Source criticism
  • Innovation / change expertise
  • Report writing
  • Dissemination
  • Project management / economics

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

  • The candidate understands the engineering profession and the engineer's role, as well as ethical issues in the environment, society and working life.
  • The candidate has knowledge that provides the basis for seeing technology - both as theory and practice - in historical and future-oriented perspectives.
  • The candidate has insight into and understanding of key theories of knowledge and scientific methodology.
  • The candidate has basic knowledge of projects as a form of work, both about organization, implementation and reporting.
  • The candidate is particularly familiar with his / her own course of study in the above paragraphs.

Skills

  • The candidate can identify engineering issues and reflect critically on these in light of his knowledge of different views of science, technology and ethics
  • The candidate can argue objectively and systematically as well as exercise source criticism
  • The candidate can use processes for creativity and innovation in project work
  • The candidate can use professional tools, techniques and terminology in his / her own field of study
  • The candidate has basic programming skills
