Responsive Web

This course is about web design and development for responsive websites based on the mobile first approach. The students will design and create code adhering to the web standards html and css.

The students gain knowledge about the use of semantic html and css as a tool for design. The students know about and know how to use standards based code to design a responsive website adhering to the mobile first appraoch. The students will learn about the coherence between html structure and css structure and how complex css selectors may be a basis for the implementation of flexible design solutions for both touch based and mousepointer based interfaces. The students will experience the importance of validating the html and css code and be aware of the principles of responsive web design. The students will be able to compress images for use on the web, both for low and high resolution displays. The students will also know about the use of typographic rules and principles as design tools in the web context. The students will know about fundamental principles for the use of colour in web pages.

Lectures, workshops. Individual project, with weekly supervision (formative-iterative evaluation). Sketches, the work process, and the end result must be documented.
