About this course

Content

The course consists of two parts: 1) Introduction to sensor systems: Design of a general measuring system. Static characteristics. Measurement accuracy. Sensor Technologies. Analysis of measurement systems. 2) Practical instrumentation: Construction of complete instrumentation systems. Development of virtual instruments. Use of data acquisition devices (myDAQ), software (LabVIEW, Matlab).

Learning outcomes

Knowledge: After completing the course the candidate should be able to

- have broad knowledge of all individual elements of a typical instrumentation system

- describe the construction of a general measurement system

- describe and interpret static characteristics

- explain the behavior and characteristics of selected sensors

Skills: After completing the course, students should be able to

- design measurement systems that meets specified requirements

- program data acquisition and data presentation

- master LabVIEW at the basic level General competence: After completing the course, students should be able to

- have insight into relevant issues within instrumentation

- evaluate specifications, design, construction, and operation of an instrumentation system

- be able to plan and carry out varied tasks and projects that extend over time, alone and as a participant in a group.
