About this course

Content

Introduction into production and distribution of electric energy. Organization of the energy-market.

Energy-sources / principle construction of power plants as: Hydropower, Wind power, Solar energy, Further renewable energy sources, as for example wave power or tidal power, Thermal power stations (oil, gas, coal, nuclear power, ), Combined cycle power plants

Turbine technology.

Energy storage.

Transformer stations.

Basics about the structure and construction of overhead lines.

Structure of the power grid.

Protection of electric facilities.

HSE - health, safety and environment for electric facilities.

Rules for high- and low-voltage facilities.

Electric and magnetic fields.

Learning outcomes

Learning outcomes - Knowledge:
The candidate knows about the organization of the energy market.
The candidate has knowledge about different energy sources and how these are used to produce electric energy.
The candidate has knowledge about protection of electric facilities.
The candidate has knowledge about different water turbines and their fields of application.
The candidate has knowledge about different energy-storage-systems.
The candidate has knowledge about the construction and structure of different elements in the electric power system, as for example: Transformer stations, Overhead lines.
The candidate has basic knowledge about the structure of the electric power system.
The candidate knows about rules for high- and low-voltage-facilities.

The candidate can perform calculations of the magnetic and the electric field.
