Learning outcomes
Læringsutbytte - Kunnskap:
typical microcontrollers, including architecture and components; uses; and advantages and limitations
the imperative programming paradigm, including fundamental principles; advantages and limitations; and differences from other programming paradigms
Basic electronics, including common components; fundamental analogue and digital circuits; and nonlinearities.
Læringsutbytte - Ferdigheter:
programming microcontrollers, including using data types, control structures, functions and libraries; techniques for testing and error debugging; analysis of programme flow; as well as writing programmes that are easy to read, expand, maintain, and are well documented
using circuit diagrams and wiring forms, including wiring up circuits from specifications and analysing circuits by use of Ohm's law and Kirchhoff's laws
conversion between analogue and digital signals and information; using the binary number system; and use and analysis of logic and combinatorial circuits
Læringsutbytte - Kompetanse:
have a basic understanding of the relationship between software and hardware
possess awareness about safety in the laboratory and be able to handle components and laboratory equipment in a safe manner
be able to present course topics orally and in writing to both a technical and a non-technical audience
Teaching methods
Pedagogiske metoder:
The course is practical, emphasising laboratory work both individually and in groups. The laboratory work is divided into a number of laboratory assignments that explore the course topics with an overarching goal that learning outcomes are achieved. In addition, fundamental background theory is taught with the aid of lectures and student problem solving.
Obligatoriske arbeidskrav:
Up to 6 compulsory laboratory assignments. For admission to the exam, all assignments must be passed within given deadlines.
