About this course

Content

Emphasis is placed on understanding the advantages and disadvantages of different coaching roles. Students will work on understanding different target groups and how this forms the basis for designing coaching practices. Significant emphasis will be placed on communicative processes in training contexts. Students will work with experience-based knowledge in relation to scientifically based knowledge and the methodological implications of this.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge - the student shall:

  • through presentation and review of key theories and approaches, gain a basic understanding of various aspects of the coaching role within sport.

Skills - the student shall demonstrate the ability to:

  • use key theories and approaches to analyze relevant issues related to the coaching role in sports.

Teaching methods

Lectures (theoretical and practical) 2 hours per week, 2 hours of practical exercise per week. The students must carry out their own practice as a trainer/teacher for young people over the age of 16, and write a term paper based on this. Emphasis is placed on learning through student-active learning methods. Assessment: Written exam.
