About this course

Content

This course will look into the questions on the regulation and organization of sports and culture, at the local, the national and the global level. Comparative case studies will also be included. Commercial potentials and challenges of different forms of regulation and organization are considered, as well as distributional consequences of different regulatory regimes (for instance, tickets). The course represents a unique blend of perspectives from sociology, law, political science and culture studies.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge – the student shall:
* achieve a basic overview and introduction to the field of sport and culture from a multi-disciplinary perspective, including regulatory and legal questions.

Skills - the student shall demonstrate the ability to:
* be able to explain the factors that contribute to the regulation and organization of sports- and culture arrangements, at the local, national and global level.

Teaching methods

Introduction seminar, followed by intensive teaching, with lectures and seminars, up to 6 hrs each day. A course paper should be submitted within three weeks after the course. Choice of topic is self-elected, but also discussed between teacher and students.

Whether or not the course will be taught spring semester 2015 depends on the departments teaching resourses. This will be decided autumn semester 2014.
