About this course

Content

The course is a review of theories of sports, focusing upon the individuals,groups and onganizations. The course deals with the individual’s roles in society, organisational aspects of sports and the connection between personal factors and society. The course will discuss the recent research and research projects in progress concerning these topics.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge – the student shall:
* gain an insight into the possibilities and challenges in sports that are tied to motivation, communication, interaction, identity formation and coping in a social-psychological and organizations-theory perspective.

Skills - the student shall demonstrate the ability to:
* deal with theoretical topics in an independent manner.
* deal with a given theme that has been discussed during instruction in an independent manner through written work.

Teaching methods

Teaching method and activities: Lectures and seminars, equivalent to 6 hours per week, supervision of the essays. The essays must be approved. Form of assessment is a 6 hours written exam.
