Elective Internship

The students are responsible to send application, CV and portfolio to possible employers. NTNU will not make the placement, but assist the students with quality assessment and contract. Further, the students are connected with a workplace for a total of 160 hours during a semester. During this period, students will participate in production, familiarize themselves with the organization, and apply all the theoretical knowledge and practical skills acquired during the first four semesters of the course. The period of practice challenges students to utilize the knowledge and skills they have achieved from actively participating the study program. The workplace will probably use both tools and methods that would not be familiar to the student, and they need to acquire new knowledge and skills necessary to complete tasks as expected during the practice. Different companies will work in different ways and with different tasks, and students will experience practice to be different depending on the location during the period. An important theme will therefore be to understand and learn about the corporate culture, how they work and how they are organized

Knowledge Goals:

After having completed the course, the candidate

• is able to evaluate methods and tools used in production
• is familiar with the corporate organization and understands how to map the company's workflow and routines.

Skill Goals:

After having completed the course, the candidate

• shows self-esteem and ability to present themselves in a process where the student seeks internship
• shows the ability to critically, innovative thinking and analytical approaches to the field of practice and own achievements and learning process
• applies and links relevant theoretical knowledge to the performance of practical tasks
• being able to describe routines, structure and organisation of the internship site.
• show good communication skills
