Content

Mechanical properties of concrete and steel.

 Resistance Properties of concrete and steel.

 Calculation of loads actions on structures of concrete and steel.

 Laboratoty Practice with Concrete technology

 Statics.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge:

The mechanical, durability and environmental properties of concrete and steel.

Basic theories and methods for strength analysis and design of building structures according to the relevant Eurocodes (NS-EN). 

   

Skills:

Explain the basic mechanical, durability and environmental properties of concrete and steel.

Select building materials based on requirements to mechanical properties and durability and environmental aspects.

Analyze and evaluate the results from materials testing.

Design basic structural components with implementation of European standars NS-EN.

Statics.

General competence:

The candidate master relevant terminology and can communicate with people in the field.

The candidate has a holistic view of materials and structures.

Teaching methods

Lectures, exercises,using modern software. Laboratory. Compulsary written exercises.  

Mandatory assignments:

5 compulsory laboratory assignments.The report from laboratory must be filed by the deadline and approved before the student is admitted to the examination. Compulsary written assignments must also be approved to take ythe exam. Quantity: 2 on Statics, 1 on Concrete structures and 2 on Steel structures.
