Epidemiology I

Acquire knowledge on how to study the distribution of disease in human populations, and commonly used methods in how to investigate causes of disease in the population. This course will introduce the students to epidemiological methods, study design, simple analysis of epidemiological data. In particular, sources of bias that often threaten the validity of observartional studies, will be discussed.

Learn the most important measures of disease frequency, and how to estimate the association between a possible causal factor and the occurrence of disease. Further, the students are expected to learn the basic principles of various study designs applicable to epidemiology
