Children and Welfare 1

This course gives an introduction on different ways to organize welfare both nationally and globally, and additionally different social scientific perspectives on children and childhood.

- The student has knowledge about different welfare models
- The student has knowledge about the dominating welfare challenges children and youth faces both globally and nationally
- The student has knowledge about different social scientific perspectives on children and childhood
- The student can identify and critically assess social sciences role/contribution on the topic children and welfare

The course is organized by the principles of flipped-classromm. Flipped-classroom is a form of blended learning which means that the student follows electronical lectures and available learning activites at home/between lectures. It is a presumption that the students are prepered before meeting in class so the time can be used to discuss and clarify questions/ideas and to work with specific problems tied to the theme. In that way the students can check their understanding and learning outcome during the course and the teacher can use the time in class to adress the important issues or the difficult ones. It can also be given resource lectures in class.
