Specialization Assignment in History - Five-year Teacher Education Programme

The specialization assignment is a written assignment where the student discusses an historical topic, chosen in consultation with a teacher. The aim of the course is to give students basic skills in writing an academic text. At the end of the course, students are expected to be able to document sources, reflect historically, analyse information and develop a coherent argument. The specialization assignment should be between 15 and 20 pages.

Students are expected to have the following learning outcome:

Knowledge:
- comprehensive knowledge about the chosen topic

Skills:
-Ability to develop a hypothesis and carry out an historical analysis based on literature and/or sources
-He/she should be able to discuss and to draw conclusions
-He/she should be able to express him/herself in correct academic prose and learn how to find and cite relevant literature and sources
