Humanities in the Workplace

HFEL3000 Humanities in the Workplace is a formally approved alternative to the course Experts in Team for students at the Faculty of Humanities.

HFEL3000 Humanities in the Workplace focuses on the academic competence

Following a successful completion of the course, the students will able to give an account of their competence as Humanist in relation to working life.

Furthermore, students will be familiar with and gain experience in process oriented work and methodology.

By successful completion of the three-week practical period, teh students will have carried through a project which have provided them with knowledge of the shape essential components of working life: the demand for accomplishment, presentation and report.

The teaching and activities in the course are three-fold: The first part of the course takes place in the autumn semester prior to the formal beginning of the course in the spring semester. During the initial part of the course students are provided with training in carrying through a job interview. They are also assigned to their work placements/internships. The students themselves are responsible for making an appointment with their employer, as well as coordinating the student-driven groups. The second part consists of an intensive three-day teaching period on group-based processes with emphasis on making the students more conscious of their competence, as well on creative team processes. The final part of HFEL3000 consists of a three-week internship period/workplacement in a company, an organisation or a public agency in Trondheim. The students will complete process-oriented and project-oriented reports, in addition to giving an oral presentation of their project. The students will be provided with courses in job hunting and presentation techniques.
