Child Welfare Workers competence and specialisation

The course will focus on the child welfare workers's society challenges, professional competence and identity. Central theme is own life story, cooperation between child welfare and other relevant agencies, power and conflict understanding, organizational understanding and critical reflection related to the professional role as child welfare worker . Students will gain experience in interdisciplinary cooperation through professionla students in team (SiT). They will also gain experience in interdisciplinary cooperation with partners from other relevant education. Activity subjects are also included in the course.

Students who have completed the subject:
- Have broad knowledge of the social assignment, key themes, theories and methods relevant to the child welfare worker's professional competence.
- Have knowledge of interdisciplinary cooperation with other professions.
- Have knowledge of the importance of innovation for the child welfare work.
- have knowledge of the child welfare worker's rights and duties in the working life
- have knowledge of group processes, conflicts and conflict management

Skills
Students who have completed the course:
- apply their child care and child welfare knowledge in collaboration with other professions
- document and disseminate knowledge from interdisciplinary project work, both written and oral
- reflects and integrates relevant knowledge from other disciplines - reflects on and analyzes own life story, as well as own values and norms in the professional role
- understands and reflects on the child welfare worker's practice based on a theoretical framework of understanding
- uses different activities in practical work

Students who have completed the course:
- demonstrate broad professional knowledge of child welfare topics, theories and methods
- demonstrate insight into results-oriented innovation and work with interdisciplinary issues
- plan and implement a interdisciplinary project work
