Mental Health among children and young

The course is mainly, but not exclusively, focused on mental disorders, addiction and sexual abuse.

The student
- has knowledge about the history and tradition of the subject, and it's current position in society.
- knows the legal and organizational framework relevant for professional measures and treatment.
- knows the relevance of childhood conditions in the development of mental disorders, social problems and addiction.
- has some knowledge about research and development work within the area of measures and treatment of children and adolescents
- the relevance of activities in working with childrens' health.

Skills
The student
- can discuss the subject's history, traditions, and it's place in current society
- can discuss the role of childhood conditions in the development of mental disorders, social problems, addiction, violence, crime, and other problems.
- can reflect upon the significance of facilitating development-supporting processes in the individual, the family, and other networks.
- can discuss the role of their own, and others', relational skills in working with children, adolescents and families at risk.
- can find, evaluate and refer to information and research results in an informative and clarifying manner.
- can use activities as a tool when working with children's health.

The student
- has gained insight into his or her own relational skills and relevant ethical dilemmas.

- has some insights into organizational and relational challenges regarding measures and treatments available to children and youth.
- has gained insights regarding childrens', adolescents', and families' need for support, and the corresponding responsibility of the child welfare authorities.
