Introductory Course in Greek

This course is an introduction to the Greek language (classical Athenian; dimotiki, i.e. Modern Greek, can be offered on a self-study basis), with a focus on basic grammar and vocabulary.

A candidate who passes this course is expected to have the following learning outcome according to the course curriculum, defined as knowledge and skills:

Knowledge

• Students should acquire basic knowledge of Greek grammar and vocabulary and syntax
• Basic knowledge of the Greek language's and literature's history

Skills

Students should acquire

• Skills in reading and understanding simple texts
• Skills in grammatical analysis of simple texts
• Modern Greek: Basic understanding and oral skills

Lectures and seminars. The students must submit 4 mandatory assignments. Six-hour written final exam. In this exam the students are to translate curriculum texts and make grammatical analyses of the texts.
